One Saturday morning, after a long trail run, our running group headed to breakfast at the Zinc Cafe in Solana Beach. I ordered a big bowl of granola with fresh fruit and almond milk. However, when the milk arrived, it was steamed. This ended up being the best thing ever!

This is where the inspiration for my strange breakfast concoction originated from.  Warm, breakfast cereal.  I ate this a bunch of times in Modesto, primarily after my runs when I would want something warm, but still wanted to eat cereal.  Mmm, warm milk.  Doesn’t it just remind you of being swaddled like a baby? (lolz)

Warm Breakfast Cereal

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 cup fruit (your choice – bananas, berries, mangos, etc.)
1 cup cereal (I used Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch)
2 Tbsp. granola
1 Tbsp. peanut butter

  1. Heat almond milk in microwave for 1:00.
  2. Add fruit and microwave for :30.
  3. Mix in the cereal.
  4. Sprinkle with granola and top with peanut butter.
